"The biggest problem is that most people that are security practitioners are network people, and most people that are doing exploits are software people, and frankly that is not fair. So the software people are running circles around the networks guys. Not surprising because the software people get to write the stuff that the network guys operate...Firewalls might have been very helpful when we were trying to protect our LAN from dangerous outside, unfortunately the days of having a very simply defined perimeter are over, and so we need to move beyond the firewall...and only by building this properly are we going to solve this problem."
