The wisconsin governor is being pilloried because he created a budget deficit by slashing taxes for no good reason, wants to sell off his state assets through no-bid contracts, and refuses to take lower salaries; he only wants to outlaw collective bargaining for labor unions that tend to support democrats.

What's nutty of course is that not once in your entire (non-partisan) article did you consider anything except slashing spending. Between 1951 and 1964 the top tax bracket was never below 90%. Between 1936 and 1980 it was never below 70%. These days it's "socialism" if the top bracket is more than 31%. Maybe that explains where all the budget deficits have come from since 1980, especially when you could consider that the non-defense non-discretionary spending has remained fairly flat at 3% of GDP for the last several decades.

Slashing spending is a when not an if, its only a matter of doing it now while we have a choce or waiting when other will decide for us. Our unfunded entitlements will explode to $53 trillion by 2030, that is $175k for every person. Where is that money going to come from?

We wil have to do other things like raise taxes as well, both of these are dealt with in great detail in I.O.U.S.A. Which everyone should see.
